Hi! So, yesterday, as I was reading The Giver, chapter 1, I noticed that Jonas's world is a utopia. I also noticed that from the very beginning of the story that Jonas is really apprehensive about the Ceremony Of Twelve. I wonder why Jonas is apprehensive about this. Does he get hurt? Maybe Jonas is apprehensive about the "ceremony" because he doesn't want to turn twelve.

how does the ceremony of 12 reinforce that this is a utopia (a perfect society)

The Ceremony Of Twelve reinforces that Jonas's world is a utopia because they have all the 11's turn 12, and this helps because if they were to celebrate different birthdays at different times, I'm sure that all the older children would be making fun of the younger one's, and that would bring discord all along the ages of children. Maybe even the adults

I think the world of the giver is a dystopia because the people there are forced to follow strict rules, because they do not get to chose what they want to do in life and because the people who live there are constantly in fear.

I feel that the community that The Giver is in is a dystopia. I think the community is a dystopia because his environment is very dull because it is a choreographed world, because there is partisanship and because there is prejudice there.

Some specific instances is that The Giver has a dystopia society is because the physical environment symbolizes the social environment because everybody there is dull themselves except for Jonas. In addition, I say the social & physical environment is dull because " Everyone is the same " except for Jonas.

The society in the book The Giver by lois lowry is a distopia. According to the text the people cant share their feelings when you do a big mistake you get killed and lastly because everyone lives in constant fear

I think the society that the main character Jonas lives in is a dystopia society .One why Jonas probably lives in dystopia society because, his society has alot of aircafts flying around.Another reason is because his society kills babies that do not function right.Lastly his society only allow two children,a mother, and a father to very family. These are the reasons why i think Jonas society is a dystopia one.

THE BOOK THE GIVER IS A BOY, A BOY NAMED JONAS HE IS 12 YEARS OLD AND LIVES IN A UTOPIA. HE IS 12 YEARS OLD THIS CHAPTER IS THE BEGINNING AND IT INTRODUCES THE PEOPLE WHO LIVES THERE AND ITS ALSO A DYSTOPIA BECAUSE JONAS LIKES AIRPLANES AND THEY FLY THROUGH THAT'S WHY IT IS BOTH A UTOPIA AND A DYSTOPIA...

When read the book THE GIVER i noticed that Jonas lives in a dystopia society because there was a lot of weird stuff going on like when the air crafts came in out of nowhere and everyone had to go inside but it was all a mistake.

I that the city, or village that they live in, is a Dystopia. I think this because, in the book there is supply delivery for proper survival, but unlike our modern society we don't get the supply ourselves. Another reason I think this is because, they treat the people there like they are always in school, for example, they get alerted about things through a loud speaker like morning anouncements. Lasty, because, the smallest mistake, like a flight pilot in training going off course, and they get "released", or fired, and if a chidren say that word they will even get scolded like its a swear word that they said.

In my opinion i think the world of the giver is dystopia because the society has very crazy rules that are supposed to be followed .According to the text it states that only on female and one male are allowed in a family. Also this world he lives in is dull it has no COLOR!.Also you have to wait for the food to be given.this shows why i think the givers world is a dystopia.

So yesterday i was reading the first chapter of a book called The Giver. This character named Jonas, in my opinion was afraid because of what he exspereanced. Jonas lives in a distopia society. The society is trying to improve however something happened in the past. Jonas has exsperrence an undetified air craft that has let every one abandon on what they were doing and immedently go home

The world of the giver is dystopia because you only can 4 family members.Another reason, is you have to wait for airships to come to get water and food their is no other ways to get water and food.Cray things are happening.

I think that the community that jonas lives in a dystopia community because if they say "you are released" they would have a stern talk with you if you are a kid.In addition if someone announces that you are released from that town that is a punishment for you. this happened when th pilot in training went in the wrong direction. Also how the town chooses everything for them like jobs.

In my opinion, Jonas's world is a dystopia because him and his parents keep on talking about rules and releasing. For example, the text says "The rules say that if there's a third transgression he simply has to be released." i think that releasing means killing or exiling them.

The physical enviornment symbloic of social environment is that people act in a stange ways. Ways that are not simillar as today.pg.14 " She had became a One" Also ," they have been brought to the stage by the Nurturers who has cared for them since birth." pg15. People act and say things in a strange way. Also how people red. A little before, Jonas obayed what anyone would say in his comanity.

Not interacting with animals makes it a dystopia because they don't have the right education. Not having the right education means that his world isnt that great.

the world of the giver is a distopia society because people are in constant fear because when an airplane flies over head all the people get scared even though it was nothing.Another example is that they have very strict rules and sometimes the rules are not good like that every night you are forced to share your feelings. My last reason is that they do not get to chose what they do in life, people chose for them.
